Gallerí Barmur, 1996
Title: Landscapes
A travelling gallery in a brooch, 5 x 5 cm. The brooch is made by designer Tinna Gunnarsdóttir from a steal frame with a black rubber frame fastened with bolts on each corner. Each artist gets a new brooch and must find someone to carry the gallery for one month.
My carrier was Einar Garibaldi, an artist who at the time was travelling around Iceland with french tourists. In the end of August he went to Milan in Italy where the exhibition ended.
Materials: Brooch, my hair, (to resemble the gold frame of landscape paintings above the sofa) Einar to carry the brooch, mirror and its reflections
Methods: Assembly and Einar's travelling.
Icelandic homes very often have a "sofa painting". It is most often a landscape painting in oil with a golden carved frame. My hair represents the gold.
